Claire was born and grew up in an interfaith (Christian and
Jewish) household in New York City. As a teen she explored every
faith community within walking distance of her parents' home:
Episcopal; Catholic; Hindu; Jewish; Buddhist; Quaker, and so
many more! Having no childhood worship community of her own
left her free to explore and experience the bountiful variety
that New York offers. Through a Friday night youth group Claire
eventually became involved with the Quaker meeting and then
later with Integral Yoga: a synthesis of many of the world's
great faith traditions, emphasizing that "Truth is One,
Paths are Many."
She received her undergraduate degree in 1981 in Cultural
Anthropology and Religious Studies at UC Santa Barbara, and
although she loved her studies, found she was more attracted
to a heart-centered, practical approach than an academic one.
Along the way she has worked as a paralegal, administrator,
sales clerk, waitress and Life Coach (to name a few) and has
continued her studies in world faith traditions and spiritual
practices over the years. In 1999 she completed training in
Life Coaching with Coach for Life, a spiritually-based program
accredited by the International
Coach Federation.
A few years ago, through a series of amazing personal experiences,
Claire was blessed to find her way to One
Spirit Interfaith Seminary (OSIS), a 2-year program
of study, in Manhattan, leading to ordination as an Interfaith
Minister. Seminary curriculum provided Claire with a firm
knowledge base in ancient and contemporary faiths and their
spiritual practices as well as ongoing experience of practical
ministry. It has been a most wonderful, fulfilling experience
for Claire and she is happy to now be able to offer ministerial
services such as weddings, vow renewals and baby blessings.
Claire is married to a wonderful man, Hariharan, has an 21ok
year old son, Justin, who is the joy of her life and 3 beautiful
step-children: Deva, Asha and Jaishree. They also have 3 cats:
C-Bop, Frank and Mr. Mouse; and one dog, Lily - the 10-pound
wondergirl. Claire and her family make their home in beautiful
Charlottesville, Virginia.
